The headline finding: Netflix's catalog is not uniformly woke. The platform that gave us Bridgerton Season 4 (Woke Score: 58) also gave us Nonnas (Woke Score: 1), Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man (Woke Score: 5), and War Machine (Woke Score: 4). The ideological range is enormous. What Netflix is doing is segmenting its audience by taste and ideology simultaneously, serving progressive content to progressive viewers and conventional content to everyone else. The question is whether the prestige programming, the stuff critics celebrate and award bodies notice, skews harder left. Our data suggests yes.

Netflix's most-talked-about titles skew woke. Emilia Perez (Woke Score: 28), Adolescence (Woke Score: 22.54), and Bridgerton Season 4 (Woke Score: 58) dominate the conversation. The bread-and-butter action and legacy content, from Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F to Peaky Blinders to Nobody 2, scores consistently traditional. The data says: yes and no, and the "yes" matters more than the "no."
The majority of Netflix's reviewed catalog (13 of 28 titles) scores traditional or lean traditional. The platform still commissions Beverly Hills Cop sequels, Peaky Blinders continuations, military dramas, and earnest family films. These titles serve the platform's subscriber base, and Netflix needs subscribers more than it needs cultural credit.
But the pattern at the top is clear. Netflix's prestige content, the titles that receive critical acclaim, awards consideration, and maximum marketing spend, skews heavily progressive. Bridgerton, Emilia Perez, and Adolescence are the titles Netflix uses to define itself culturally and in Hollywood. Those titles score significantly woke by our methodology.

Netflix is running a two-track content strategy. Track one is conventional entertainment, action movies, legacy franchise sequels, warm family stories, designed to keep subscribers paying.
