Ride or Die is Amazon Prime Video's glossy new action-comedy series that pairs Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham as best friends on the run through Europe after one of them is revealed to be an elite international assassin. It is slick, fun, and sometimes very funny, carried by the genuine chemistry between its two leads. Created by British comedian Tessa Coates and showrun by Matt Miller (Chuck, Lethal Weapon), the series knows exactly what it is: popcorn entertainment designed for a broad streaming audience. The VVWS score lands at WOKE LEAN because the ideological architecture is present but not heavy-handed. Judith is the classic Girl Boss archetype (WOKE-003): physically dominant, emotionally guarded, and lethally competent in ways once exclusive to male action heroes.
