What it is, however, is a comedy that treats its characters with genuine affection, treats marriage as a good worth pursuing, and treats male friendship as a bond that holds even when the friend in question is objectively insufferable. The Broken Lizard formula has not changed in 25 years: incompetent cops, escalating absurdity, and a surprising amount of heart. The woke content is minimal, a light dusting of authority-figure mockery that has been the franchise's comic engine since before woke was a word. The traditional content, centered on marriage and loyalty, is what actually drives the story. Parents should note the R rating is earned: this is not a family comedy. For adults who want 104 minutes of dumb fun that does not lecture them, Super Troopers 3 delivers.
