Every Amazon Prime Video Original Ranked by Woke Score (2026)

From Gen V to Project Hail Mary, all 25 Amazon Prime Video originals ranked by woke score. An 84-point spread between the most woke and most traditional titles on a single platform. Parents, know what you're streaming.

Amazon Prime Video has quietly become one of the most ideologically polarized streaming platforms in the market. On one end, you have Reacher breaking bones and Terminal List avenging SEAL teams. On the other, you have The Boys treating American conservatism as the villain of the week and Gen V extending that same worldview to a college campus. The platform is not just hosting content. It is hosting a culture war, and the two sides are on the same subscription.

This is useful for families who want to make informed streaming choices. When a platform serves everything from Casino Royale to Blink Twice under the same "Included with Prime" banner, the burden falls on parents to sort the signal from the noise. The Prime Video interface will not tell you which show is arguing that American institutions are corrupt. It will show you a trailer and an algorithmically generated "Because you watched..." suggestion. The ideological sorting is your job.

We have now reviewed and scored every Amazon Prime Video original in the VirtueVigil database: 25 titles spanning feature films, limited series, and ongoing shows. The list below ranks them from most woke to most traditional using our standard dual-metric methodology. Each entry includes the woke score, traditional score, verdict, and a link to the full review with the complete trope breakdown. This includes series that originated on Prime Video and Amazon Studios theatrical releases that stream exclusively on the platform. Library titles available on Prime but produced elsewhere are not included here. This is the Amazon originals list, not the "everything streaming on Prime" list.

The range is striking. Gen V opens the list at -33.4 woke margin. Project Hail Mary closes it at +50.4 traditional. A spread of nearly 84 points between the two poles of one platform's original slate. That is not diversity of content. That is a platform with no coherent editorial identity, chasing every audience simultaneously. Which means it is your job to know what each title is actually doing.

STRONGLY WOKE

#1. Gen V (2023)

STRONGLY WOKE WOKE: 37.3 TRAD: 3.9 MARGIN: -33.4 WOKE

Genre: Superhero / Black Comedy / Drama / Satire • Rating: TV-MA • Year: 2023

Gen V is The Boys with a college campus and a slightly softer heart -- which is to say it is still a relentlessly cynical, anti-corporate, anti-authority satire that treats the superhero genre as a delivery system for progressive messaging. The series inherited its parent show's ideological commitments wholesale. Set at Godolkin University, an elite institution for young supes, it centers on Marie Moreau, a blood-manipulating heroine desperate to escape her traumatic past. The show layers body image commentary, trans-coded physical dysphoria with the Jordan Li character, campus sexual assault allegory, and corporate exploitation narratives into every episode. The craft is real: Jaz Sinclair and the ensemble are excellent, and the show knows how to pace a season arc. But the politics are worn on every sleeve, and at 37.3 woke against just 3.9 traditional, this is the most ideologically one-sided title on Amazon Prime Video. Parents of teenagers who watched The Boys should know Gen V is the same argument, just in a younger body.

#2. The Boys (2019)

STRONGLY WOKE WOKE: 39.7 TRAD: 15.4 MARGIN: -24.3 WOKE

Genre: Superhero / Dark Comedy / Drama / Political Satire • Rating: TV-MA • Year: 2019

The Boys is one of the most technically accomplished shows on streaming television and one of the most nakedly ideological. Eric Kripke's adaptation of Garth Ennis's comic series arrived at peak Marvel saturation with a simple proposition: what if superheroes were real, and being real meant they were awful? The answer is a show where corporate-managed super-celebrities are rapists, murderers, and corrupt narcissists, and the only people willing to stop them are a CIA-backed crew of broken vigilantes. Karl Urban's Billy Butcher and Antony Starr's Homelander are two of the best performances on television. But the show's politics are relentless: corporate America is evil, Christianity is a fraud, and every institution from the military to the media exists to protect the powerful. At 39.7 woke, it carries one of the highest woke scores in the entire VirtueVigil database. The 15.4 traditional score comes almost entirely from the show's genuinely affecting fatherhood and loyalty themes, which survive despite the political machinery around them.

WOKE

#3. Blink Twice (2024)

WOKE WOKE: 22.2 TRAD: 5.9 MARGIN: -16.4 WOKE

Genre: Psychological Thriller / Mystery • Director: Zoe Kravitz • Rating: R • Year: 2024

Zoe Kravitz made a MeToo thriller, and she was not subtle about her intentions. Channing Tatum plays Slater King, a tech billionaire who invites women to his private island where a perfume erases their memories and a therapist signs off on the arrangement. Naomi Ackie leads the ensemble as one of the women who begins to piece together what is happening. The film is a psychological thriller built on the premise that powerful men systematically abuse women and the system is designed to protect them. At 22.2 woke and just 5.9 traditional, the ideological framing is comprehensive. The R rating and the thriller format mean parents of older teens should know what the film is arguing before they press play. The craft is competent and Ackie's performance is committed, but the film is a blunt instrument with a specific political purpose.

#4. The Boys - Season 4 (2024)

WOKE WOKE: 19.7 TRAD: 8.1 MARGIN: -11.7 WOKE

Genre: Superhero Satire / Action Drama • Rating: TV-MA • Year: 2024

Season 4 drops whatever pretense remained. Homelander is now explicitly MAGA fascism with heat vision. The satire has narrowed from "all institutions are corrupt" to "conservatism specifically is the threat." Sister Sage is introduced as a genius-level strategist whose cynicism serves the show's argument that intelligence without progressive values is sociopathy. Firecracker is an alt-right influencer with superpowers. The season is still technically well-made: Karl Urban and Antony Starr continue to deliver excellent performances, and the action set pieces remain ambitious. But the ideological balance present in earlier seasons has collapsed. At 19.7 woke and 8.1 traditional, Season 4 is the most politically weighted season of the show.

WOKE LEAN

#5. Civil War (2024)

WOKE LEAN WOKE: 20.6 TRAD: 15.2 MARGIN: -5.4 WOKE

Genre: Action / War Drama • Director: Alex Garland • Year: 2024

Alex Garland spent years watching political tribalism consume American discourse, and his response was to make a movie designed to give everyone something to hate and something to love. Civil War follows a group of journalists traveling through a fractured America where Texas and California have seceded together against an authoritarian federal government. The film is a significant woke trap: its formal neutrality is a deliberate construction designed to make viewers project their own politics onto the screen. The woke score reflects the film's core argument that journalism is the last bulwark against authoritarianism and that objectivity is a moral obligation. The traditional score reflects the film's reluctance to take a side in the culture war it depicts. Parents should know this is not a political thriller with a villain and a hero. It is an argument about how we got here, and that argument has a lean.

#6. Fallout - Season 2 (2025)

WOKE LEAN WOKE: 9.9 TRAD: 4.9 MARGIN: -5.0 WOKE

Genre: Post-Apocalyptic / Sci-Fi Drama • Rating: TV-MA • Year: 2025

Fallout Season 2 is competent prestige television with a contradiction at its center. The show is built on the Fallout game franchise's brilliant premise: 200 years after nuclear war, every faction that survived is corrupt and the only moral clarity comes from individuals who refuse to be subsumed by the systems around them. That is a fundamentally libertarian, even conservative, worldview. But the show's execution layers in progressive character dynamics and corporate-villain tropes that pull it left. Ella Purnell's Lucy MacLean remains a compelling lead, and Walton Goggins' Cooper Howard continues to give the show its moral center. The woke lean comes from the show's treatment of corporate power as the root of all evil and its tendency to frame individual moral clarity as inherently anti-institutional. The traditional elements are there but muted in Season 2 compared to Season 1.

#7. Ride or Die: Season 1 (2026)

WOKE LEAN WOKE: 10.4 TRAD: 5.9 MARGIN: -4.5 WOKE

Genre: Action Adventure Comedy • Rating: TV-MA • Year: 2026

Ride or Die pairs Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham as best friends on the run through Europe after one is revealed to be an elite international assassin. The series is slick, fast, and genuinely fun in stretches, carried by the chemistry between its two leads. The premise is popcorn entertainment designed for a broad audience -- and that broadness keeps it from the political sharpness of The Boys. But the show's default posture is progressive: female-led action with a buddy-comedy frame that treats traditional gender roles as the setup for jokes, not the punchline. The woke score of 10.4 reflects the show's casual, unexamined progressivism rather than any explicit political argument. This is not a show trying to persuade anyone. It is a show that assumes you already agree.

MIXED

#8. G20 (2025)

MIXED WOKE: 10.7 TRAD: 8.2 MARGIN: -2.5 WOKE

Genre: Action / Thriller • Starring: Viola Davis • Year: 2025

G20 wants to be Air Force One for the streaming era. The setup is solid: terrorists seize a G20 summit in Cape Town, take world leaders hostage, and the U.S. President -- a former Army combat veteran -- has to fight her way through the hotel to save her family and the other hostages. Viola Davis is unimpeachable as a screen presence. The action is competent. The villain's cryptocurrency scheme is current. On paper, this should work. It mostly does not. The problem is that the film cannot decide whether it wants to be a Die Hard-style action picture or a statement about the competence of female leadership. The mixed verdict reflects genuine ideological cross-currents: the President is positioned as both a traditional protector figure and a symbol of progressive institutional change. As an action film, it is fine. As a statement, it is muddled. Families looking for a straightforward action thriller will find the ideological noise distracting.

#9. The Order (2024)

MIXED WOKE: 10.1 TRAD: 11.0 MARGIN: +0.8 TRAD

Genre: Crime Thriller • Year: 2024

The Order lands at almost exactly neutral on our scale, which is rare for a film about white supremacy. This is a VirtueVigil score worth understanding. The film is based on true events: in the 1980s, a white supremacist group called The Order conducted bank robberies and assassinations to fund a race war. An FBI agent tracks them through the Pacific Northwest. The film earns traditional points because it treats law enforcement as a legitimate institution doing legitimate work, because it frames the villains as evil without qualification, and because it refuses to make the story about anything other than good men hunting bad ones. It earns woke points because the material itself -- a white supremacist terror cell in rural America -- is inherently politicized, and the film's framing choices inevitably reflect contemporary discourse. The near-neutral score means the film succeeds at being what it is: a crime thriller about actual criminals, not a lecture about systemic anything.

TRADITIONAL LEAN

#10. Heads of State (2025)

TRADITIONAL LEAN WOKE: 7.2 TRAD: 14.7 MARGIN: +7.5 TRAD

Genre: Action Comedy / Spy Thriller • Director: Ilya Naishuller • Rating: PG-13 • Year: 2025

Idris Elba plays the UK Prime Minister. John Cena plays the US President. Air Force One gets shot down over Belarus. The two world leaders have to fight their way out together. Heads of State is a buddy comedy wrapped in an action movie, and it is better at the second thing than the first. The traditional lean comes from the film's refusal to undermine either character's authority: the US President is not a fool, the UK Prime Minister is not a scold. The film earns its traditional score through straightforward action-hero competence and a partnership built on mutual respect rather than identity politics. The woke score reflects some progressive casting choices and the inevitable contemporary banter, but nothing that overwhelms the popcorn intent. Ilya Naishuller directed Nobody, and he brings the same kinetic action sensibility here. Families looking for a fun action comedy that does not lecture will find this a safe pick.

TRADITIONAL

#11. Red One (2024)

TRADITIONAL WOKE: 5.4 TRAD: 16.4 MARGIN: +11.1 TRAD

Genre: Action / Adventure / Christmas Comedy • Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Chris Evans • Year: 2024

Critics destroyed Red One -- 31% on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences gave it 92%. Over 50 million households watched it on Prime in its first month. That gap between critic contempt and audience enthusiasm is a reliable signal in 2024: the movie is doing something critics do not like. What Red One does is tell a Christmas story about a gruff, competent man (Dwayne Johnson as Santa's head of security) who does his job without irony because he believes in it. The film is built on traditional scaffolding: Santa is real, Christmas is sacred, the North Pole is a functional organization staffed by people who take their work seriously, and the threat is a cynical outsider who wants to ruin it for everyone. The 5.4 woke score reflects a few contemporary asides, but the film's heart is in the right place. It is not high art. It is a Christmas action movie for families who want to watch something without being lectured, and it delivers exactly that.

#12. Invincible - Season 3 (2025)

TRADITIONAL WOKE: 7.2 TRAD: 18.3 MARGIN: +11.1 TRAD

Genre: Animated Superhero / Action Drama • Rating: TV-MA • Year: 2025

Invincible remains the best superhero show currently in production, and Season 3 deepens without diluting. The season picks up the fallout from the Invincible War: a multiverse attack that leveled cities and killed thousands. Mark Grayson is processing the weight of a catastrophe he could not prevent. His father, Nolan, is navigating a redemption arc that the show refuses to make easy. The traditional score of 18.3 comes from the show's core architecture: a young man protecting his family, a father earning back his honor, and a world where consequences are real and lasting. The woke score of 7.2 reflects a handful of progressive character additions and relationship dynamics that feel obligatory rather than organic. The show's brutality is significant: the TV-MA rating is earned through graphic violence that makes the Marvel films look like a tea party. Families with younger teens should wait. Families with older teens will find one of the most morally serious superhero stories in the medium.

#13. Fallout (2024)

TRADITIONAL WOKE: 1.4 TRAD: 12.7 MARGIN: +11.3 TRAD

Genre: Sci-Fi / Post-Apocalyptic / Action / Drama • Rating: TV-MA • Year: 2024

Amazon's Fallout adaptation is a rare thing: a video game adaptation that does not just respect its source material but enriches it. Set in the ruins of post-apocalyptic Los Angeles in 2296, the series follows three protagonists: Lucy MacLean, a vault-dweller who leaves her sheltered home to find her kidnapped father; Maximus, a squire in the militaristic Brotherhood of Steel struggling with his conscience; and The Ghoul, a 200-year-old bounty hunter played with career-best menace by Walton Goggins. The show's traditional score of 12.7 comes from its fundamentally libertarian worldview: every institution is corrupt, every authority figure is lying, and the only moral clarity comes from individuals making choices. The woke score of just 1.4 is one of the lowest in the Prime Video catalog, reflecting the show's refusal to moralize from any particular political direction. The violence is significant and the body horror is not for the squeamish. But for families with older teens who love science fiction, this is as clean as prestige television gets in 2024.

#14. Air (2023)

TRADITIONAL WOKE: 2.4 TRAD: 15.2 MARGIN: +12.8 TRAD

Genre: Biographical Sports Drama • Director: Ben Affleck • Year: 2023

Air is the kind of movie that should not work and completely does. A 112-minute film about a sneaker deal. No action. No explosions. No love story. Just a group of men in bad 1980s clothes arguing about basketball shoes in conference rooms. And it is one of the best films of 2023. The premise: 1984, Nike's basketball division is failing. Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon) bets the company's entire $250,000 budget on a rookie named Michael Jordan. The film is about competence, conviction, and the refusal to accept mediocrity. Ben Affleck directs with the confidence of someone who knows his material is good enough to not need gimmicks. At 2.4 woke and 15.2 traditional, Air is as ideologically clean as a corporate biopic gets. No politics. No lectures. Just people who care about what they do doing it well. Safe for all ages and genuinely inspiring.

#15. Road House (2024)

TRADITIONAL WOKE: 3.5 TRAD: 17.6 MARGIN: +14.1 TRAD

Genre: Action • Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal • Year: 2024

Everybody knew the Road House remake was going to either be a disaster or a surprise. It landed firmly in surprise territory -- entertaining, masculinity-affirming, and generating almost zero ideological controversy. For an Amazon production in 2024, that is genuinely remarkable. Jake Gyllenhaal plays Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter with a dark past who takes a job as a bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse. What follows is 121 minutes of broken bones, bar fights, and a simple moral framework: good people deserve protection, bad people deserve what is coming, and when a man has the capacity to deliver justice he has an obligation to do so. The 3.5 woke score reflects a few updated character dynamics from the 1989 original, but the core is untouched. This is a fight movie about a man who fights for the right reasons, and it does not apologize for any of it.

#16. Jack Ryan: Ghost War (2026)

TRADITIONAL WOKE: 4.0 TRAD: 20.0 MARGIN: +16.0 TRAD

Genre: Action / Political Thriller / Espionage • Director: Andrew Bernstein • Year: 2026

Jack Ryan: Ghost War is something Hollywood has forgotten how to make at consistent quality: a serious American patriotism film. Not a satire of it. Not a deconstruction of it. Not an interrogation of whether American institutions deserve their heroes. A film where a capable American man with a working moral compass is dragged back into danger because the world needs him and he cannot say no. John Krasinski returns as Ryan, now pulled from his desk at Langley into the field when a ghost network of ex-intelligence operatives begins targeting American assets in Eastern Europe. The film earns a 20.0 traditional score through its treatment of American service as honorable, its refusal to complicate the moral calculus, and its respect for institutional competence. At 4.0 woke, the handful of progressive grace notes are drowned out by the film's core argument: there are good guys and bad guys, and good guys should win. For families tired of morally ambiguous spy thrillers, this is a return to form.

#17. Batman: Caped Crusader (2026)

TRADITIONAL WOKE: 4.5 TRAD: 22.7 MARGIN: +18.2 TRAD

Genre: Animated / Action / Crime / Noir • Rating: TV-14 • Year: 2026

Batman: Caped Crusader Season 2 deepens the show's commitment to 1940s noir with ten episodes that are darker, more serialized, and more focused on Gotham's institutional rot than the first season. Hamish Linklater's Batman remains the show's anchor -- a growling, haunted presence whose detective instincts are as sharp as his fists. Bruce Timm, the co-creator of Batman: The Animated Series, brings decades of experience to a version of the character that feels both classic and fresh. The traditional score of 22.7 comes from the show's treatment of Batman as a moral absolutist in a compromised world: he does not kill, he does not compromise, and he protects the innocent without qualification. The 4.5 woke score reflects some contemporary casting and character updates, including a reimagined Harley Quinn who works as a criminal psychologist before her transformation. For families with teens, this is one of the best animated series on any platform, and the ideological content is minimal relative to the quality.

#18. Reacher - Season 3 (2025)

TRADITIONAL WOKE: 2.7 TRAD: 21.6 MARGIN: +18.9 TRAD

Genre: Action / Crime / Thriller • Year: 2025

Reacher Season 3 does what the third season of almost any television series struggles to do: it deepens without diluting. Based on Lee Child's "Persuader," the season adds a personal stake: someone died on Reacher's watch years ago, and everything that follows is built around what that means. Alan Ritchson has now played Jack Reacher across 24 episodes, and the performance has settled into something authoritative. The show's traditional score of 21.6 comes from its unapologetic premise: a capable man wanders into a problem, identifies who is responsible, and makes them regret it. There is no moral ambiguity. There is no hand-wringing about violence. There is a problem and there is Reacher, and the problem does not survive the encounter. At 2.7 woke, the ideological content is negligible. The TV-MA rating is for violence, not politics. For families with older teens and adults who want a straightforward action show, Reacher is the gold standard on Prime Video.

#19. We Were Soldiers (2002)

STRONGLY TRADITIONAL WOKE: 3.9 TRAD: 27.2 MARGIN: +23.3 TRAD

Genre: War / Action / History • Director: Randall Wallace • Rating: R • Year: 2002

We Were Soldiers is the Vietnam War film that Hollywood would not make today. It honors the American soldiers who fought at Ia Drang without apologizing for them, while still showing the enemy as a competent military force led by a commander who is not a caricature. Mel Gibson plays Lt. Col. Hal Moore with the gravity the role demands: a man who promised to be the first on the battlefield and the last off, and kept that promise. Sam Elliott's Sgt. Maj. Basil Plumley is one of the great supporting performances in war cinema. The film earns its 27.2 traditional score through its treatment of military service as honorable, leadership as a sacred trust, and sacrifice as meaningful. The 3.9 woke score reflects the film's evenhanded treatment of the Vietnamese soldiers, which is historically honest rather than ideologically motivated. The R rating is for graphic war violence. This is a film about men who fought and died for each other, and it treats that subject with the reverence it deserves.

#20. The Terminal List (2022)

STRONGLY TRADITIONAL WOKE: 2.8 TRAD: 26.6 MARGIN: +23.8 TRAD

Genre: Military Action Thriller • Starring: Chris Pratt • Year: 2022

The Terminal List has a 40% on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and a 94% audience score. That gap tells you everything you need to know about where the show sits culturally. Chris Pratt plays Commander James Reece, a Navy SEAL whose entire platoon is ambushed in Syria. When he returns home, he discovers the ambush was not random: his men were sacrificed to cover up an illegal pharmaceutical trial run by a defense contractor with connections to the highest levels of government. What follows is a revenge story that does not apologize for its protagonist's methods. The show earns its 26.6 traditional score through its treatment of military brotherhood as sacred, its refusal to complicate the hero's moral clarity, and its insistence that when the system is corrupt, a righteous man operating outside it is not a villain but a necessity. At 2.8 woke, the ideological content is essentially absent. This is the most conservative show on Prime Video, and it wears that identity without shame.

#21. Casino Royale (2006)

STRONGLY TRADITIONAL WOKE: 0.0 TRAD: 24.5 MARGIN: +24.5 TRAD

Genre: Action / Spy Thriller • Director: Martin Campbell • Rating: PG-13 • Year: 2006

Casino Royale is not just the best Bond film. It is a document of what the franchise looked like before ideological capture set in. Every frame is built on traditional architecture: patriotic service, moral clarity, masculine competence, and sacrificial love. Daniel Craig's Bond kills for his country. He tortures himself to stay alive long enough to complete the mission. He falls for Vesper Lynd not because she outperforms him but because she is the one person who sees through the performance to the man underneath. When she dies, the film treats it as a tragedy that hardens him, not a lesson about his toxic behavior. The zero woke score is earned: there is not a single progressive trope in the film's 144-minute runtime. The PG-13 rating reflects intense action violence and a torture scene that remains genuinely difficult to watch. For families with older teens, this is as ideologically clean as a modern action film gets, and Martin Campbell's direction remains the high-water mark for the entire Bond franchise.

#22. Reacher - Season 4 (2026)

STRONGLY TRADITIONAL WOKE: 1.8 TRAD: 27.0 MARGIN: +25.3 TRAD

Genre: Action / Crime / Thriller • Rating: TV-MA • Year: 2026

Reacher Season 4 is the most unapologetically traditional show on streaming television, and it knows exactly what it is. It does not apologize. It does not equivocate. It does not pause to let a character explain that violence is actually problematic. It gives you eight hours of a former military police officer drifting into a town, finding trouble, and dismantling it with his fists and his brain, in that order. Alan Ritchson has now fully become the character in a way that transcends performance. The show's 27.0 traditional score comes from the same place it always has: Reacher protects the weak, punishes the guilty, and carries himself with the quiet confidence of a man who knows exactly what he is capable of. At 1.8 woke, there is nothing here but the story. The TV-MA rating reflects the violence, which is as direct and unglamorous as the character. For adults and older teens who want a show where the good guy wins and the bad guys lose without a single asterisk, this is the show.

#23. Man on Fire (2004)

STRONGLY TRADITIONAL WOKE: 1.4 TRAD: 27.6 MARGIN: +26.2 TRAD

Genre: Action / Thriller • Director: Tony Scott • Rating: R • Year: 2004

Man on Fire is one of the purest traditional value systems in American cinema, delivered at 146 minutes of operatic vengeance. Denzel Washington plays John Creasy, a burned-out former CIA operative who takes a bodyguard job for a nine-year-old girl named Pita (Dakota Fanning) in Mexico City. He is a broken man who can barely function. She looks at him and sees something worth saving. When she is kidnapped and presumed dead, Creasy stops being a thriller protagonist and becomes something older: an instrument of justice who will burn down the entire criminal ecosystem of Mexico City to find the people responsible. The film earns its 27.6 traditional score through its treatment of protection as a sacred obligation and vengeance as morally unambiguous when the victim is innocent. At 1.4 woke, there is nothing here but a man who loves a child and destroys everyone who hurt her. The R rating is for graphic violence and torture. This is not a film for children, but it is a film about what a righteous man owes the innocent.

#24. Apollo 13 (1995)

STRONGLY TRADITIONAL WOKE: 0.4 TRAD: 27.6 MARGIN: +27.3 TRAD

Genre: Drama / History / Thriller • Director: Ron Howard • Rating: PG • Year: 1995

Apollo 13 is one of the most traditionally American films ever made, and it achieves this without a single speech about patriotism or a flag in the frame that was not there in 1970. Ron Howard understands that the most persuasive case for American greatness is Americans being great at something hard. The film is a procedural about competence: the astronauts trust Mission Control, Mission Control trusts the engineers, the engineers trust math, and math does not care about anyone's feelings. Tom Hanks plays Jim Lovell as a family man and a professional, not a hero. He becomes one because the situation demands it and he has the training to meet the demand. Ed Harris as Gene Kranz delivers the film's most iconic line -- "Failure is not an option" -- with the matter-of-fact authority of a man stating a physical law. At 0.4 woke and 27.6 traditional, this is one of the cleanest films in our entire database. The PG rating makes it safe for all ages. Every family should own this film.

#25. Project Hail Mary (2026)

STRONGLY TRADITIONAL WOKE: 1.1 TRAD: 51.5 MARGIN: +50.4 TRAD

Genre: Science Fiction / Drama • Directors: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller • Rating: PG-13 • Year: 2026

Project Hail Mary is that rarest of things in 2026: a big-budget studio film with no ideological axe to grind. It is a story about science working, about a man choosing sacrifice over safety, and about two creatures from different worlds discovering that competence and kindness transcend biology. Ryan Gosling plays Ryland Grace, a middle-school science teacher who wakes up on a spacecraft with no memory of how he got there, only to discover he has been sent on a one-way mission to save humanity from an extinction-level event. The film earns the highest traditional score in the entire VirtueVigil database at 51.5. Grace does not lecture anyone about privilege. He does not undergo a political awakening. He saves two civilizations with a whiteboard, a graduated cylinder, and the courage to stay behind when the escape window closes. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the directors behind The Lego Movie and the Spider-Verse films, bring visual invention and genuine warmth to what could have been a cold technical exercise. At 1.1 woke, the ideological content is essentially zero. This is a film about human ingenuity, self-sacrifice, and the kind of courage that does not need a flag to know what it is fighting for. The PG-13 rating reflects some language and peril. For families, this is the film of the year.
