Most Woke Movies of 2026: The 22 Films Parents Need to Know

We ranked the 22 most woke films of 2026 with full scores, verdicts, and context so parents know what is in theaters and on streaming before the kids watch.

2026 is only three quarters old and Hollywood has already released over 190 films tracked in the VirtueVigil database. That is a lot of content. And buried inside that mountain of entertainment is a consistent pattern: films that use their runtime not to tell stories but to deliver ideological payloads. Some are explicit about it. Others bury the messaging under production design and A-list stars and hope you will not notice until you are already invested.

This is not about whether a film is good or bad. Some of the movies on this list are genuinely well-made. That is not the point. The point is that parents and viewers deserve to know what they are walking into before the opening credits roll. A well-made propaganda film is more dangerous than a clumsy one. You enjoy it before you realize what you are consuming.

This list ranks the 22 most ideologically aggressive films of 2026 to date, sorted by woke score descending. Every ranking is backed by VirtueVigil's VVWS dual-metric scoring system: Traditional Score measures traditional values present (courage, family, faith, sacrifice, moral clarity), Woke Score measures progressive ideological content (identity politics, institutional distrust, progressive sexual framing, systemic oppression narratives), and the gap between them tells you what the film is actually doing. Every entry links to the full VirtueVigil review with complete scoring methodology, content warnings for parents, and scene-by-scene breakdowns.

Some of these films will be on year-end best-of lists. That is how the system works. The institutions that hand out awards are the same institutions these films were made to flatter. Our job is not to tell you what to think. It is to tell you what is inside the box before you open it.

#1 (Most Woke): Disclosure Day (2026)

WOKE TRAD: 20.4 WOKE: 43.1 MARGIN: 22.7 WOKE

Genre: Science Fiction, Thriller • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Steven Spielberg • Rating: PG-13

Steven Spielberg's return to science fiction spectacle lands with the year's highest woke score -- and the most heartbreaking thing is that the craft is extraordinary. Emily Blunt plays a meteorologist who, alongside a cybersecurity whistleblower played by Josh O'Connor, uncovers evidence that a powerful corporation has been suppressing proof of extraterrestrial contact for decades. The film is visually magnificent. Janusz Kaminski's cinematography is peerless. John Williams' score is working at the highest level of his career. Colin Firth plays the corporate antagonist with enough moral complexity that he almost convinces you he might be right. Almost. The problem is the ideological architecture: the film argues that institutions do not have the right to decide what humanity can handle, that transparency is an uncomplicated moral good, and that a corporation suppressing alien contact is the real villain rather than, say, the aliens themselves. The 43.1 woke score reflects a film where institutional skepticism and progressive information-justice framing are baked into the premise at the molecular level. This is Spielberg operating at full ideological throttle, and parents who remember the filmmaker of E.T. and Jurassic Park should adjust expectations accordingly.

#2: Wuthering Heights (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 26.0 WOKE: 36.0 MARGIN: 10.0 WOKE

Genre: Drama • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Emerald Fennell • Rating: Not Rated

Emily Bronte's novel has survived 179 years and every adaptation thrown at it. Emerald Fennell's version might be the one that finally asks: what if we added a BDSM barn scene between the servants, an extended masturbation sequence on the moors, and an opening public hanging with a visible erection? Margot Robbie is ferociously good as Cathy, and Jacob Elordi grows into Heathcliff in ways that earn the film's final act. The bones of Bronte's novel are present and the tragedy lands. The problem is what Fennell builds on top of those bones. Her career -- Promising Young Woman, Saltburn, now this -- follows a consistent trajectory: female sexuality as liberation, transgression as artistic statement, and provocation as the primary aesthetic tool. The 36.0 woke score reflects a film that treats Bronte's text as raw material for a feminist re-reading rather than as a story that already worked on its own terms. LuckyChap Entertainment, Margot Robbie's production company, has now produced three feminist-adjacent prestige provocations in a row. That is not coincidence. That is a production company with a thesis, and Wuthering Heights is the latest proof of concept.

#3: The Bride! (2026)

WOKE TRAD: 10.4 WOKE: 34.8 MARGIN: 24.4 WOKE

Genre: Gothic Romance / Horror • Platform: Theatrical (IMAX) • Director: Maggie Gyllenhaal • Rating: R

The Bride! is a commercial disaster -- $80 million budget, $8-10 million domestic opening, C+ CinemaScore, 61% on Rotten Tomatoes -- and it is also the most unapologetically ideological film on this list. Maggie Gyllenhaal wrote, directed, and produced a movie in which a resurrected woman screams "Me too! Me too!" during the climax, growls "female rage" repeatedly, and leads a feminist uprising where women adopt black-ink lip tattoos and newspapers print headlines reading "GIRLS RRRIOT." The film reimagines the Bride of Frankenstein as a Bonnie-and-Clyde road trip with dance numbers, explicit MeToo references, and riot grrrl aesthetics. Christian Bale plays Frankenstein's lonely monster, Jessie Buckley plays the reanimated bride, and Annette Bening plays a female scientist who brings her back to life. The 10.4 traditional score is one of the lowest in the database for a major studio release. The 34.8 woke score reflects a film that is not hiding anything. This is author-driven woke, not committee-driven woke. IndieWire called it "a wokified, Joker-fied feminist opera." They meant it as a critique. Gyllenhaal would probably take it as a compliment.

#4: Six The Musical Live! (2026)

WOKE TRAD: 4.2 WOKE: 33.6 MARGIN: 29.4 WOKE

Genre: Musical / Concert Film • Platform: Theatrical • Directors: Toby Marlow / Lucy Moss • Rating: PG (Thematic Elements, Suggestive Lyrics)

The PG rating is what should concern parents most about this one. Six is a dazzlingly produced, genuinely catchy piece of theater built on a thesis that is pure modern identity politics: the six wives of Henry VIII are defined only by their victimhood until they reclaim their voice and rewrite history without the man at the center of it. That is the entire show -- a competition conceit where each queen sings about her trauma and the resolution is that they stop competing and unite against the system that defined them. The songs are earworms. The performances are electric. The 4.2 traditional score reflects a production in which no traditional value survives longer than it takes to be deconstructed. The 33.6 woke score is earned through a total commitment to the proposition that historical women need to be rescued from their own history by modern feminist sensibility. Families drawn in by the catchy trailer and the PG rating should understand: this is a lecture with a beat, and the beat is designed to get the lecture past your defenses.

#5: Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma (2026)

WOKE TRAD: 0.8 WOKE: 31.6 MARGIN: 30.8 WOKE

Genre: Satire / Surrealist / Slasher / Psychological • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Jane Schoenbrun • Rating: R (Strong Sexual Content, Graphic Violence, Nudity, Language, Drug Use)

Jane Schoenbrun made a film that cares more about being celebrated at Cannes than about telling a story anyone outside a film festival would want to watch. The thesis is announced early and never stops being announced: the slasher genre is a closet for trans identity, and reclaiming it is an act of liberation. A traditional score of 0.8 is effectively zero. This film contains almost no measurable traditional values whatsoever. The 31.6 woke score reflects total ideological saturation -- every frame, every scene, every creative choice is in service of the thesis. The R rating should be taken seriously. This is graphic, confrontational content marketed as arthouse cinema. For the overwhelming majority of VirtueVigil readers, this film is not a "should I watch" question but a "should I know this exists" question. The answer to the second one is yes. The answer to the first one is no.

#6: Forbidden Fruits (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 21.2 WOKE: 27.8 MARGIN: 6.6 WOKE

Genre: Comedy Horror • Platform: Theatrical / Shudder • Rating: Not Rated

There is a store at the Highland Place mall called Free Eden. It sells cupcake-scented candles and charm bracelets. The employees are gorgeous and have their own private slang. After closing time, they gather in a candlelit upper room called Paradise and perform rituals in service of something they call the Goddess. Forbidden Fruits is a horror-comedy about a mall cult disguised as a retail chain, and it works better than that premise suggests. The 21.2 traditional score reflects genuine craft -- the film is funny, the performances are committed, and the horror beats land. But the 27.8 woke score reflects a film where the cult is explicitly coded as a parody of corporate capitalism, female exploitation, and the commodification of spirituality. The satire is sharp but the target is never in doubt. This is Eat Pray Love reimagined as a slasher film, and it knows exactly whose side it is on.

#7: Leviticus (2026)

WOKE TRAD: 4.0 WOKE: 23.8 MARGIN: 19.8 WOKE

Genre: Horror / Romance / Coming-of-Age • Platform: Theatrical / Streaming • Director: Adrian Chiarella • Rating: R (Sexual Content, Violence, Disturbing Images)

The title is the giveaway. Leviticus is the biblical book most associated with prohibitions against homosexuality, and Adrian Chiarella's film uses that association to make its argument explicit: religious communities that oppose homosexuality are not just wrong, they are monstrous. The setup is a familiar coming-of-age romance. Naim moves to a small religious town in rural Victoria after his father's death. He meets Ryan, a local teenager. They fall for each other. The town's religious community -- and this is key -- is not depicted as conflicted, well-meaning, or even human. It is depicted as a horror movie antagonist. The 4.0 traditional score reflects a film that offers religious faith no grace, no complexity, and no redeeming representation. The 23.8 woke score is earned through a single-minded commitment to demonizing traditional religious communities. Competently made, ideologically ruthless.

#8: The Drama (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 8.4 WOKE: 22.7 MARGIN: 14.2 WOKE

Genre: Dark Comedy / Romance / Drama • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Kristoffer Borgli • Rating: R

Kristoffer Borgli, the Norwegian provocateur behind Dream Scenario, made a film with a single devastating premise: what happens when you discover the person you love once planned to murder children at their school? The answer, according to The Drama, is that it becomes a very uncomfortable conversation during your wedding weekend. Borgli has described the film as an anti-rom-com, and the description fits uncomfortably well. The 22.7 woke score reflects a film that treats traditional romantic commitment as a kind of epistemological crisis -- how can you truly know anyone, and how can marriage survive the discovery that you do not? The 8.4 traditional score is low because the film offers no counter-argument. Marriage is not depicted as something worth fighting for. It is depicted as a trap you walk into before you have all the facts. Craft-wise, Borgli is genuinely talented. Ideologically, this is a film that treats the institution of marriage as an elaborate confidence game.

#9: I Love Boosters (2026)

WOKE LEAN TRAD: 1.0 WOKE: 20.0 MARGIN: 19.0 WOKE

Genre: Crime Comedy / Satire • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Boots Riley • Rating: R (pervasive language, drug content, brief sexual content)

Boots Riley made Sorry to Bother You in 2018 -- a Marxist nightmare comedy that earned its politics through sheer formal invention. Eight years later, he returns with I Love Boosters, a crime comedy about organized retail theft rings that treats shoplifting as an act of economic resistance. The 1.0 traditional score is about as close to zero as you can get without actually being zero. The 20.0 woke score reflects Riley's complete disinterest in traditional values or moral complexity. The boosters are the heroes. The store owners are the villains. Capitalism is the crime. The film is funny in stretches and Riley's formal invention is still impressive, but the ideological architecture is a single, uninterrupted note: property is theft, and the people stealing it are freedom fighters. If you could not tell that from the title, you were not paying attention.

#10: Nightbitch (2026)

WOKE LEAN TRAD: 0.0 WOKE: 18.9 MARGIN: 18.9 WOKE

Genre: Drama • Platform: Hulu • Rating: Not Rated

A traditional score of zero. Not low -- zero. Nightbitch opens as a character study of maternal exhaustion, with Amy Adams playing a woman losing her identity in the repetitive isolation of full-time parenthood. The first half is grounded, well-acted, and genuinely explores a universal experience. Then the ideological framing takes over. What begins as personal struggle becomes systemic indictment: motherhood itself is a trap, the nuclear family is a prison, and the only liberation is animalistic self-reclamation. The film's title is literal -- Adams' character begins transforming into a dog at night -- and the metaphor is not subtle. Traditional domesticity is depicted as something you escape, not something you build. The 18.9 woke score reflects a film that takes a real human experience -- maternal exhaustion -- and weaponizes it against the institution of family.

#11: They Will Kill You (2026)

BALANCED TRAD: 14.8 WOKE: 18.8 MARGIN: 4.0 WOKE

Genre: Action/Comedy/Horror • Platform: Warner Bros. Pictures (Theatrical) • Rating: R

They Will Kill You has exactly one thesis: put Zazie Beetz in a building full of immortal Satanists and watch what happens. It is a simple premise executed with bloody confidence, and for audiences who enjoy that combination, this film mostly delivers. The 14.8 traditional score is higher than most entries on this list -- the film has genuine action-cinema craft, Beetz's physical performance is compelling, and the survival-against-odds narrative is fundamentally traditional. But the 18.8 woke score reflects the film's casting and character choices: the Satanists are explicitly coded as wealthy elites exploiting the powerless, and the film's sympathies are entirely with the underclass protagonist fighting the system. It is the lightest entry in the top half of this list, which tells you something about the field. A BALANCED verdict for a film about killing immortal Satanists is probably the right call.

#12: Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass (2026)

WOKE LEAN TRAD: 1.5 WOKE: 17.6 MARGIN: 16.1 WOKE

Genre: Comedy / Adventure / Satire • Platform: Theaters • Director: David Wain • Rating: PG-13 (Sexual References, Language, Comic Violence)

A road-trip comedy that runs its horny premise into the ground, David Wain's latest delivers consistent laughs at the cost of any moral coherence whatsoever. Zoey Deutch commits fully as Gail, a Kansas hairdresser whose journey to Los Angeles to sleep with Jon Hamm becomes a vortex of briefcase mix-ups, hairdresser-convention shootouts, and celebrity cameos. The 1.5 traditional score reflects a film in which no relationship, institution, or commitment is treated as anything other than a punchline. The 17.6 woke score reflects the film's sexual politics, which are firmly in the "pursue your desires regardless of consequence" camp. It is funny. It is also a PG-13 film that treats the pursuit of a celebrity sex pass as the premise of a lighthearted comedy. Parents considering this for teenagers: the rating says PG-13. The content says something else.

#13: Hoppers (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 12.3 WOKE: 17.6 MARGIN: 5.3 WOKE

Genre: Animated / Adventure / Comedy • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Brian Fee • Rating: PG

Let us be honest about what Pixar made here. Hoppers is a genuine return to form for a studio that had been coasting on nostalgia sequels for nearly a decade. Brian Fee has made something emotionally alive -- a film that earns its tears, lands its jokes, and creates characters you actually care about. It is the first Pixar original that has felt essential since Soul. That is worth saying upfront because the woke score is real and parents should know about it. The 17.6 woke score reflects Pixar's continued commitment to progressive representation and environmental messaging, woven into the fabric of a story about a girl who transfers her consciousness into a robotic beaver to investigate environmental corruption. The 12.3 traditional score reflects genuine countervailing values: friendship, self-sacrifice, and the courage to do the right thing. This is the best-case scenario for a woke-leaning animated film: the craft is strong enough that the ideology feels like seasoning rather than the main course.

#14: Is God Is (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 7.2 WOKE: 17.6 MARGIN: 10.4 WOKE

Genre: Thriller / Drama / Revenge • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Aleshea Harris • Rating: R (Expected: Strong Violence, Language, Disturbing Thematic Content)

Aleshea Harris has been clear about what she is making: a Black feminist revenge myth about women's violent agency against a patriarch who destroyed their family. The stylized character names -- the Monster, Ruby the God, the Rough One -- signal from the first frame that this is not realism. This is allegory, and the allegory is unambiguous. Twin sisters, scarred by the father who tried to kill them as children, receive a letter from their dying mother instructing them to find him and finish what he started. The 7.2 traditional score reflects the revenge narrative's fundamental structure, which is as old as storytelling itself. The 17.6 woke score reflects the film's ideological framing: patriarchy is violence, female vengeance is justice, and the institutions that failed to protect these women are simply another face of the same system. Harris is a genuine playwright with real craft. The film is not clumsy. That makes the ideological architecture harder to see and more difficult to resist.

#15: Stop! That! Train! (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 6.4 WOKE: 17.2 MARGIN: 10.8 WOKE

Genre: Action Comedy / Disaster / Parody • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Adam Shankman • Rating: PG-13 (expected, comedy content)

Stop! That! Train! is exactly what it says on the box: a disaster parody featuring drag queens, built for the RuPaul's Drag Race fan base, directed by a filmmaker who has spent his career in that cultural space. Two train stewardesses, Tess and DeeDee, sneak onto a luxury train called the Glamazonian Express and must stop it when the conductor dies and the brakes fail. The structure is Airplane! on rails. The 6.4 traditional score reflects the disaster-movie framework -- problem, stakes, resolution -- which is structurally traditional even when everything draped over it is not. The 17.2 woke score reflects a film that is primarily a two-hour celebration of drag culture. Parents should understand: this is not a Trojan horse. It is a parade float. There is no deception. The film knows what it is and who it is for. Whether it is for your family is a question the trailer will answer in under thirty seconds.

#16: The Invite (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 3.1 WOKE: 17.2 MARGIN: 14.0 WOKE

Genre: Comedy / Dramedy • Platform: Theatrical (A24, limited release expanding) • Director: Olivia Wilde • Rating: R (Sexual Material, Language Throughout, Drug Use)

The Invite is the best-directed film Olivia Wilde has made -- a brittle, frequently hilarious dinner-party dramedy that doubles as an autopsy of modern marriage. It is also a film that assumes, from its opening epigraph to its closing moments, that traditional marriage is a prison, monogamy is a slow death, and the bumbling, emotionally stunted husband is the primary problem. The 3.1 traditional score reflects how little the film has to say in favor of the institution it spends two hours dissecting. The 17.2 woke score reflects a worldview in which the only sane response to marriage is escape. A24 distributed this, which means the craft is high, the performances are serious, and the audience that will discover it on streaming is significantly larger than the one that saw it in limited release. Know the argument you are being served before you sit down for dinner.

#17: Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 11.2 WOKE: 16.9 MARGIN: 5.7 WOKE

Genre: Horror/Comedy/Thriller • Platform: Theatrical • Rating: Not Rated

The original Ready or Not (2019) was a tight, vicious eat-the-rich horror-comedy about a bride forced to survive a deadly game on her wedding night. The sequel dials the premise up to a global conspiracy: Samara Weaving's bride and her sister now fight through four wealthy families in a secret society of elites who hunt regular people for sport. The 11.2 traditional score reflects the survival-narrative structure and the sisterhood bond at the film's core, both of which are legitimate traditional values. The 16.9 woke score reflects the film's political architecture, which is "rich people are literally murderers." The eat-the-rich framework has become one of Hollywood's most reliable ideological delivery systems. It is satisfying, it is cathartic, and it rarely pauses to examine whether the people enjoying it might one day find themselves on the wrong side of the pitchfork.

#18: Girls Like Girls (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 4.2 WOKE: 16.8 MARGIN: 12.6 WOKE

Genre: Romance / Coming-of-Age / Drama • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Hayley Kiyoko • Rating: R

Girls Like Girls is exactly what it advertises itself to be. Hayley Kiyoko built a decade of her career on this story: the 2015 song, the music video, the 2023 novel, and now the film. A teenage girl moves to a new town, falls for her female best friend, and navigates the emotional and social consequences. The 4.2 traditional score reflects a film with almost no interest in traditional family structures, faith, or communal values. The 16.8 woke score reflects a coming-of-age narrative where the central conflict is society's failure to affirm the protagonist's identity. This is not a trick. The marketing is honest. The poster tells you what you are getting. The question is whether you want it, and parents considering whether their teenager should watch it should know: the R rating is not for violence.

#19: I Want Your Sex (2026)

WOKE LEAN TRAD: 2.0 WOKE: 16.7 MARGIN: 14.7 WOKE

Genre: Erotic Thriller / Comedy • Platform: In Theaters • Director: Gregg Araki • Rating: R (Strong Sexual Content, Nudity, Language, Drug Use)

Gregg Araki has been making films about sex, power, and queer identity for over thirty years. I Want Your Sex is being called his most accessible work yet. By Araki standards, that may be true. By any other standard, this is still a film in which a young man is handcuffed to a corner while his boss attempts to persuade his female best friend to peg him with a strap-on. Accessibility is relative. The premise involves a young artist who becomes the sexual muse of a wealthy, predatory couple, and the film explores the fluid boundaries between consent, exploitation, and self-discovery. The 2.0 traditional score reflects a film with essentially no traditional values present. The 16.7 woke score reflects Araki's career-long project of dissolving sexual norms and treating all boundaries as negotiable. The R rating is not decorative. This is explicit content, and the marketing is positioning it as a prestige erotic thriller rather than what it is: an Araki film dressed up for a wider audience.

#20: Enola Holmes 3 (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 7.4 WOKE: 16.1 MARGIN: 8.7 WOKE

Genre: Mystery / Adventure • Platform: Netflix • Director: Philip Barantini • Rating: PG-13 (Violence, Thematic Elements)

The Enola Holmes franchise has been drifting left since the first film, and the third entry completes the pivot from charming Victorian detective romp into something heavier and more politically pointed. The film opens in Malta, where Enola and Tewkesbury have arrived for their wedding. Sherlock is openly against the marriage. Then he vanishes. What follows is a globe-trotting mystery that continues the franchise's project of positioning Enola as a feminist heroine fighting institutional barriers rather than just a clever detective solving cases. The 7.4 traditional score reflects the mystery structure and sibling loyalty that still function as the narrative spine. The 16.1 woke score reflects a franchise that has decided its market is young women discovering their power and the institutions that constrain them. Millie Bobby Brown remains a compelling lead. The ideological direction is simply more pronounced with each sequel.

#21: Dead Man's Wire (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 9.0 WOKE: 14.7 MARGIN: 5.7 WOKE

Genre: Biography / Crime / Drama • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Gus Van Sant • Rating: R

The Tony Kiritsis standoff of February 8, 1977 was one of the most extraordinary events in Indianapolis history. Kiritsis, a man who believed he had been swindled by a mortgage company president in a land deal, walked into the executive's office with a sawed-off shotgun attached to the man's neck by a wire. He held him hostage for 63 hours and broadcast his grievances live on television. Dead Man's Wire is Gus Van Sant's dramatization of that event, and the 14.7 woke score reflects where Van Sant's sympathies lie: Kiritsis as a working-class man crushed by a corrupt financial system, driven to violence by institutions that were never going to give him justice. The 9.0 traditional score reflects the genuinely compelling human drama at the center of the story. Van Sant is a skilled filmmaker, and the hostage sequences are tense and well-constructed. But the film's ideological architecture frames a kidnapper as a populist hero, and audiences should know that before the opening credits roll.

#22: The Last Witness (2026)

BALANCED WOKE TRAD: 4.5 WOKE: 14.4 MARGIN: 9.9 WOKE

Genre: Legal Thriller / Drama • Platform: Theatrical • Director: Greta Gerwig • Rating: R (Language, Some Violence)

The Last Witness is a legal thriller built on a single, uncompromising premise: the institutions designed to protect the vulnerable are themselves compromised. Saoirse Ronan plays Rachel, a witness who must navigate a judicial system that has become as dangerous as the criminals she agreed to testify against. Greta Gerwig directs with her characteristic attention to the human cost of institutional failure. Aaron Sorkin's screenplay ensures the dialogue crackles. The 4.5 traditional score reflects a film that has essentially nothing positive to say about the justice system. The 14.4 woke score reflects Gerwig and Sorkin's shared conviction that institutions fail the vulnerable, power protects itself, and the individual who trusts the system is a fool. It is a well-made film built on a premise that will resonate differently depending on whether you believe the system is broken or the people running it are. The craft is undeniable. The worldview is specific. Watch accordingly.

Methodology: Every film above is scored using the VirtueVigil Woke Score (VVWS) system, a dual-metric framework that independently measures traditional values and woke ideological content. Traditional Score captures positive traditional values present in the film: courage, sacrifice, family, faith, moral clarity, earned authority. Woke Score captures progressive ideological content: identity politics, institutional distrust, progressive sexual framing, systemic oppression narratives, race-and-gender revisionism. The margin between them is the most honest number in entertainment journalism. A wider gap in the woke direction means a more ideologically loaded film.
